6 Iron Fist Love Interests in the Comics That You May Not Know

Since it’s Valentine’s weekend, I wanted everyone to get to know five women who have been Danny Rand’s love interests in the comics plus a lesser-known relationship with a certain Avenger that should have lasted longer.

Curious? Let’s take a look at who these lovely ladies are!

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoiler material for stories written in the comics. Proceed with caution!

1. Misty Knight

Danny’s longest standing and most famous relationship is with Misty and they are considered the first interracial superhero couple in comics. For a time, Misty was pregnant until it was revealed that it just appeared that way because of Iron Fist’s chi powers. As a couple, many fans have loyally followed them and were quite disappointed that their relationship wasn’t portrayed in the Netflix Iron Fist series.

2. Colleen Wing

Danny and Colleen should have been a couple but for reasons unknown, writer Chris Claremont decided to go with Danny and Misty. It’s clear from the cover of Iron Fist #6 that this was where they were headed initially. In the introduction to “The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu Omnibus Vol. 2,” Claremont even referred to Colleen as “Danny’s best friend and the woman he would come to love.” In the Ultimate Universe, Danny and Colleen have a child together and in the aforementioned Netflix show, their relationship was fully explored.

3. Jade the Firebird

In “The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu,” Danny falls in love with Jade, the embodiment of all of humanity’s soul, while protecting her from the evil Dhasha Khan. It’s the kind of love story that literally takes our hero to hell and back for the love of a woman. Ultimately, they had to separate for the sake of humankind.

4. Sparrow

In “Iron Fist the Living Weapon,” Kaare Andrews introduced us to the adoptive daughter of Lei Kung, the Thunderer. She is a childhood friend of Danny and in the series, they shared an intimate moment, making it appear that the two had a burgeoning romance that didn’t completely come to fruition.

5. Brenda Swanson

Another love interest in Andrews’ take on Iron Fist, Brenda began a relationship with Danny at the beginning of the series until she eventually disclosed that she was more than she seemed. She is actually the daughter of Harold Meachum, Danny’s father’s former business partner and eventual killer.

6. Spider-Woman

It’s unclear if the stories from “Breaking Into Comics the Marvel Way” are canon but in the short story written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by Christian Nauck in issue #1, Iron Fist and Spider-Woman fell in love during their time as New Avengers. They actually look good together, too, but for some reason, it just didn’t work out. It’s a comical look at a love story that any Iron Fist fan should be interested in reading!
